Sorrento is one of those destinations that defy reality. So stunningly beautiful it might hurt your eyes, the entrance to the Amalfi Coast is a breathtaking display of bright colors and plunging cliffs and limoncello!

When everything is gorgeous, it might be challenging to determine which location is ideal for you. It depends upon the personal choice of staying just a short walk away from major attractions or away from city life’s chaos. Most hotels outside of town provide free shuttle service to the primary attractions, making this a simple city to enjoy without a vehicle, no matter where you stay. Visitors should be aware that the coast is steep and, in most cases, there are long stretches of stairs leading up to Marina Grande, one of Sorrento’s two ports.

Best Neighbourhoods In Sorrento

No matter where you visit in Sorrento, be aware that it’s expensive all year round. While coffee might cost 1.50€ in Naples, it will cost much more in Sorrento. But, it’s not as expensive as in other places in Europe.

Piazza Tasso

The heart of Sorrento is Piazza Tasso, and it’s our first choice for where to stay in Sorrento if you’re visiting for the first time. It has everything!

The Piazza Tasso is an over 158-year-old, beautiful piazza with several statues and churches in the ornate Italian style. The Marina Piccola, with its proximity to the water, is located north. The Park Vallone Dei Mulini has ancient ruins and open spaces to the south. To the east and west are Via San Cesareo, a shopping boulevard.

Watch the world go by as you soak up some sun with a refreshing drink in hand. Locals chatting with friends, children playing, and tourists getting their bearings are all visible. It’s a fantastic method to observe the passing of time.

If you’re visiting the Amalfi Coast for the first time, there’s a lot to see and do in Sorrento.

Priora

The area of Priora lies in the hills to the southwest of town. For various reasons, we think this is the most significant area in Sorrento to stay in a budget hotel. Hotel prices start at around $136 per night and it tend to be higher outside of the city center, but you may still travel into town via bus or with a 20-minute walk for free!

Priora is less crowded with fewer tourists. This extra benefit can be used to explore its fullest potential, with olive groves scattered throughout the region. Positano, Praiano, and Amalfi may all be reached in a short drive.

Hire a car or motorbike to see the sparkling seas and delicate buildings from a high vantage point on the rocky cliffs. However, those roads are narrower and more winding than you would believe. Just be careful not to get run over by a bus!

Corso Italia

Corso Italia is a major thoroughfare that runs straight through the ancient city. It’s the best area to stay in Sorrento for nightlife, as it has restaurants and bars open 24 hours a day, seven days a week! Just remember the dos and don’ts when eating at Italian restaurants. The nightlife is mainly around the Piazza Tasso section of Corso Italia, so you may have fun at both locations! It has many luxury accommodations available.

You’ll want to look your best in Sorrento (no shorts or flip-flops allowed). Any of the clubs on this stretch is a viable option, but for the finest, go to Fauno Bar, which is located just below Piazza Tasso. It has restaurants, so you can try the local “gnocchi alla sorrentina” to prepare you for the night. Then head next door to Fauno Notte Club for a red-carpet experience and a long night of fun and dancing!

Corso Italia is one of Sorrento’s most popular nightlife destinations, thanks to various alternatives. Insolito Bar is where your clever local mixologists create some of the most incredible cocktails on the strip, or there are a few great Irish pubs along the strip for a guaranteed fun night out, Irish-Italian style!

Sant’Agnello

Sant’Agnello is a stop on the Circumvesuviana train before reaching Sorrento, located east of the city. You may walk to Piazza Tasso in Sorrento in approximately half an hour.

It has a unique atmosphere and maintains a fairytale appearance because it is set slightly away from the Sorrento of postcards. Its age belies its beauty, but not entirely, as signs of ancient Vesuvian eruptions are preserved in its yellowing cliffs!

Piazza Matteotti with palm trees and a war memorial or Piazza Sant’Agnello with its church to Sant’Agnello are two options to complete your daily walk. Corso Italia also runs through this part of town, so you can easily go to the nightlife area! Sant’Agnello is the most fabulous neighborhood in Sorrento because of its laid-back atmosphere, simplicity of access, lack of other visitors, and various activities.

If you think this is the place for you, go to an olive oil tasting. Plenty of space for olives contributes to one of the world’s most delicious and nutritious oils.

Piano di Sorrento

The Piano di Sorrento area is around 1.2 kilometers or about a mile from Sant’Agnese Delle Mole and is also close to Circumvesuviana. This neighborhood, which is more of a sister city to Sorrento, is ideal for families.

It’s quieter than Sorrento, but public transportation can quickly get you to the old town or attractions to the west. Because the Piano is a little smaller, everything looks tidier, which is better for families with toddlers.

The Marina di Cassano offers stunning views of the bay and is a great location to start day trips around the Gulf of Naples. Alternatively, you may charter your boat and go on an unforgettable journey!

A small park near the marina is ideal for jogging and picnics. They might be able to point you to the neighborhood’s best gelateria so that sticky hands and smile-inducing ice cream are always within reach!

Luxury Hotels In Sorrento

Grand Hotel La Favorita

Grand Hotel La Favorita is a superb five-star hotel in Sorrento, located amid beautiful Mediterranean gardens. It has a sense of privacy while being close to the charming restaurants and shops of the town. There is a rooftop terrace, a swimming pool, a relaxation space, and a Bellavista Cocktail Bar, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Amalfi Coast.

The rooms have a traditional appearance, and there’s a hint of romance about this establishment, making it ideal for couples seeking luxury hotels in Sorrento.

Bellevue Syrene

If you’re looking for a five-star hotel with an incredible view in Sorrento, Bellevue Syrene is one of my top recommendations! It’s on a cliff and has magnificent views of the Bay of Naples. This hotel was constructed on Roman ruins dating from the second century and is full of history. There is also a beautiful outdoor pool, garden area, and a terrace near the sea.

There’s also a restaurant and a piano bar to add to the wealthy and sophisticated atmosphere. All of the rooms at this hotel have sea views, and some of them include plunge pools and Jacuzzis, making it an extra unique experience!

The Club Lounge is one of my favorite aspects of staying at Bellevue Syrene. Complimentary snacks and beverages are available throughout the day – ideal for those who enjoy a classic Italian ‘aperitif’!

Hotel Lorelei Londres

Looking for a five-star hotel in Sorrento that serves some of the best cuisines in town? You’ll adore Hotel Lorelei Londres. At Lorelei Restaurant, dine on delectable food while watching views of the sea from the restaurant’s lovely patio. This is one of the most delicious meals you’ll find in Sorrento.

This lovely hotel also has a beautiful sunset bar, gorgeous gardens, and a private beach club with lounge chairs and umbrellas. Luxury amenities like this are something on the Amalfi Coast! The room interiors are elegant, painted white to contrast with the deep blue of the sea outside. You’ll also be able to enjoy your surroundings from terraces and balconies.

Grand Hotel Ambasciatori

This is one of the finest hotels in Sorrento if you’re searching for a private beach. It offers 5-star service, has its pier with loungers, and provides all of the comforts and amenities you would expect from a five-star hotel.

The hotel is on a cliff edge, and pine trees with a bar and restaurant surround a beautiful swimming pool. The hotel is also on a cliff edge, so wherever you go, you’ll enjoy the spectacular views!

The rooms have a classic feel, with traditional Italian furniture, marble staircases, exquisite artworks, and plenty of antiques. If you want to embrace la dolce vita at its finest, this lovely hotel will be perfect.

Grand Hotel Royal

This is the perfect hotel if you want to live like a Hollywood movie star on your Amalfi holiday! The Grand Hotel Royal is a proud member of the Historic Hotels of Italy.

This hotel is perched high atop cliffs with views over the sea and contains exotic plants and orange and lemon trees planted within a park overlooking the ocean.

The hotel was built in 1898 and served as Europe’s vacation destination for aristocracy and royalty during its early years. Today’s interiors reflect this splendor, with elegant Murano glass chandeliers and antique furnishings.

There’s also the hotel’s wellness centre, La Villetta. Book a massage or a facial before relaxing with a sunset drink at the cocktail bar if you need total rest. It sounds like an ideal luxury holiday in Sorrento!

Hotel Belair

Hotel Belair is an excellent choice if you want to visit Sorrento without being part of the crowd. It’s about 15 minutes on foot to the center of town, allowing you to have it all. This is one of the finest 5-star hotels in Sorrento.

You’ll love taking in the breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius from the terraces and pool, dining on exquisite Italian cuisine in the restaurant, and relaxing with cold drinks in the bar.

The interior design of Hotel Belair reflects the area’s love of nature, history, and culture. Keep an eye out for little antiques, artwork, and décor details. It’s a lovely location to explore!

Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria

If you’re looking for the best hotels in Sorrento and want to be in the middle of town, this is one of the finest. You enter the hotel from Sorrento’s main square, and a lift will take you straight to the port. It’s perched on a rock with spectacular sea views and surrounded by Mediterranean gardens, yet it still has the buzz of the town.

The hotel offers superb service, a beautiful swimming pool, and other spa amenities. Every little thing is looked after so you can relax on the Amalfi Coast. This is unquestionably one of my top luxury lodgings in Sorrento.

Parco Dei Principi

The five-star Parco Dei Principi is a luxury hotel with some unusual and distinctive qualities! Do you want to go to the beach? You’ll have to go through caverns carved into the rock. Do you want to swim in the pool? To discover the saltwater pool, a work of art, you’ll need to stroll through the botanical gardens. There’s even what appears to be a diving board suspended beneath the water’s surface.

Gio Ponti, the hotel’s architect, played a significant role in its creation. You’ll see his work all over the place, from the ceramic pebbles on the walls of Blu Bar to that gorgeous pool and some of the beautiful bedrooms.

A delicious buffet breakfast is served. This is an excellent hotel for art enthusiasts. It’s also one of Sorrento’s most affordable 5-star hotels, making it ideal if you’re seeking elegance at a lower price!

The Grand Hotel Capodimonte

The Grand Hotel Capodimonte is a 4-star superior hotel with breathtaking views. The hotel is 10 minutes short walk from Sorrento’s main square, Piazza Tasso. Marina Grande is 0.3 km and is surrounded by the city’s most distinctive stores and tiny alleyways.

Rooms are large and stylishly furnished with patterned tiled floors, light wood furnishings, a minibar, a satellite TV, and a bathroom with a hairdryer.

Breakfast is served hot and cold, while drinks and food are available at Gli Ulivi and L’Agrumeto bars with outdoor seating. Le Ginestre serves Italian cuisine in the evening.

Hotel Antiche Mura

This 4-star hotel in Sorrento is located in the heart of the town and has a pool, cocktail bar, buffet breakfast, and serene gardens. It’s ideally positioned to take advantage of the hotel’s serenity during the day and catch a glimpse at as many restaurants as possible after dark.

The location is a few structures back from the sea, but there are still ocean views from the bedroom terraces. There are 52 rooms and five suites, making it ideal for families or an extensive group trip.
